In English below: THE SIX LAMPS
OPETTAJAT
Geshe Sherab Lodoe syntyi bön-perheeseen Tsarongissa, Tiibetissä. Menrin 33.Trinzinin, Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpochen pyynnöstä. Geshe Sherab Lodoe on toiminut myös pääopettajana Tenzin Wangyal Rinpochen perustamassa Lishu-Instituutissa Intiassa. Sherab Lodoe tunnetaan erittäin selkeästä opetustavasta ja aidosta kiinnostuksesta oppilaan etenemiseen harjoituksessa.
Dr. Sangmo Yangri on syntynyt Solanissa lähellä Menrin luostaria. Menrin 33. Trinzinin, Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpochen ja H.E. Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpochen läheinen oppilas.

THE SIX LAMPS – ADVANCED DZOGCHEN TEACHINGS
The Six Lamps is one of the most important texts of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyü (The Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung), which is regarded as the oldest and the most significant collections of Dzogchen teachings in the Yungdrung Bön tradition. This three-weekend teaching programme will be given in Tibetan and interpreted into English and Finnish. No previous experience of Dzogchen meditation is required to participate.
The teachings are traditionally said to have been transmitted by the enlightened Dzogchen master Tapihritsa to Gyerpung Nangzher Löpo, who lived in the ancient kingdom of Zhang Zhung in the 8th century. The secret Dzogchen teachings were initially transmitted exclusively through an oral master-to-disciple lineage. It was not until the 13th century that the teachings and their commentaries were established in written form. Dru Gyalwa Yungdrung (1242–1290) was an important Dzogchen master who composed an extensive commentary on the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü known as the Gyalwa Chagtri, which also includes a commentary on The Six Lamps.
The Six Lamps presents the Dzogchen path from the recognition of the nature of mind, to liberation and enlightenment. It explores resting in the nature of mind through Trekchö, as well as the natural energy of the spontaneous manifestations of the nature through Thögal, the practice of direct crossing. At the heart of the teachings is the recognition that our deepest nature is open, clear and luminous awarenes.
The Six Lamps particularly deepens the understanding and practice of Thögal. Rather than regarding the manifest world as something separate from awareness, the practices reveal how everything that appears is created by the mind and is without inherent reality. What ordinarily binds us can thus become a path to liberation. The teachings of The Six Lamps offer a profound integration of understanding, meditation and direct experience.
TEACHERS
Geshe Sherab Lodoe was born into a Bön family in Tsarong, Tibet. He became a monk at the age of 21 and, a few years later, undertook the extremely difficult journey from Tibet to India, to Menri Monastery in Dolanji. At Menri’s Dialectical School, he studied and practised Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen teachings, as well as other fields of knowledge within the Bön tradition. After fifteen years of intensive study, he received his Geshe degree in 2014.
He has held several positions of responsibility, including serving as President of Menri Dialectical School. At the request of the late H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, he also represented the Bön tradition at conferences bringing together the five major Tibetan Buddhist schools—Bön, Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyu and Gelug. Geshe Sherab Lodoe has also served as a principal teacher at Lishu Institute in India, founded by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. Sherab Lodoe is known for his exceptionally clear way of teaching and his genuine interest in supporting his students’ progress in practice.
Dr. Sangmo Yangri was born in Solan, near Menri Monastery. She has been closely connected with the Bön tradition and its culture from early childhood. Her father was a close student of the late H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, and H.E. Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche.
She received her Master’s degree in Bön and Buddhist philosophy from the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Varanasi in 2007. She continued her studies and, in 2013, became the first woman ever to receive a doctoral degree in Dharma studies. Her articles have been published in numerous journals and publications, and she has participated in several international conferences on Bön and Buddhism. She has taught at Ratna Menling Nunnery and Lishu Institute, and has worked as a translator and teaching partner with Geshe Sherab Lodoe.
Sangmo-la is not only a scholar and author but also a highly experienced practitioner, representing a long lineage of Dharma practitioners. For many years, she has worked to bring greater attention to the stories and contributions of women within the Tibetan Bön tradition, and has published books on the subject.
